Why are Rancilios so expensive in Canada?! - 2006/10/26 12:32 Sure, Sure. Due to the fact that a lot less Rancilio equipment is presumably exported to Canada than the US, it might make sense for it to carry a bit of a price premium. But almost $150? Seems excessive, don't you think?

The list price for the Silvia in Canada is $699, according to rancilio.ca, though Espressotec does sell it for A$675. In the US, the list price is $495 USD, which is just under $560 CAD - though some US retailers will sell it for closer to $450...

It's just not fair!

It's arguably cheaper to order from a US retailer, even paying brokerage fees and Express shipping.

Re:Why are Rancilios so expensive in Canada?! - 2006/10/27 10:19 Why does a Starbucks mug in Seattle sell for $4.95 and in Canada sell for $8.95?

Yea - look at the sticker my friend!

Why?

Cause it is a business!

No one is in the business of moving these machines or products and not "profit taking"

When Walmart starts selling Rancilio's and manages (somehow) to screw the importers or manufacturers
then you can celebrate...

In the meantime, take your tears over to CoffeeGeek.

We do not welcome crybabies over here.
Now Scoot! Shoo!
