help buying new machine - 2006/08/31 01:09 Could someone help me? I'm about to move out of my parents place and they have a Starbuck's Barista which I've become hooked on! I am looking to get my own, any suggestions? I've been browsing the web and like the Gaggia Classic or the Ascaso Arc fun, I hope someone can help, ellore

Re:help buying new machine - 2006/08/31 20:26Hello, I live in canada, British columbia, Vancouver Island... Morala trading co. has a few models available for the Ascaso: http://www.morala.com/ Espressotec: http://www.espressotec.com/ also has some differents options... From both locations the shipping wouldn't be too bad, no customs or duties which I'd like to avoid due to the increased cost on top of the purchase. Thanks for any advice you can spare!

Re:help buying new machine - 2006/09/01 12:19Hi ellore;
If you're in (or can get to) Victoria, ABC Electric has the Gaggia Classic (as well as the Saeco Aroma, which is equivalent to the Starbucks Barista you're used to).
I doubt they'll have the best list price but perhaps they might be talked into matching another price. In any case they're helpful folks and you can get a good look at the machines.
Plus they're almost across the street from Cafe Fantastico if you're in need of an espresso hit.

Re:help buying new machine - 2006/09/04 10:19Ellore,
You have already looked at espressotec in Vancouver, from the above (talk to Reg, though, and see what he can do for you).
In Victoria, you can also see the good folks at:
Machines N' Beans Inc. 5-625 Hillside Avenue Victoria, BC V8T 1Z1 TEL: (250)744-5432 www.machinesnbeans.com

Re:help buying new machine - 2007/01/21 10:27How about a price range? You are in the >$400 forum, which is the right way to start. The most important thing that anyone can do when getting into espresso is start with a really good grinder. A Mazzer mini (~$600) or a La Scala M5 (~$900)will last you the rest of your days, from your Rancilio Silvia to your La Marzocco GS3. Also, if you decide that espresso really isnt your thing, then a really good grinder also has good resale value on eBay (unlike a cheap one).www.currentcoffee.ca

Yea... it's been a headache, and that is understated, to say the least. Tonight, one of their reps came by to look at the machine and offer me some solutions. He was very nice. He actually said for th...
Saeco Incanto, in general, is garbage. We've had ongoing problems with ours (that you can see at the web link in my profile).
Have you had the machine serviced at all? Or just a call to ask if the...
Based on all the discussion and reviews, I am looking to buy either the 8 cup or the 12 cup model. Since the physical size of the units (other than the pot, of course) seems to be exactly the same, i...
Since you've posted in the $400 I'd say return the Breville and get a single boiler machine.
In this price range you can easily get an entry level Saeco or Gaggia, or a lesser known name like Moki...

I enjoy espresso and latte and decided (admittedly on a whim) to purchase an entry level machine. I went out and bought a Breville Cafe Roma last night. THEN I did some reading and now I am question...
I just want to recommend dealing with Espressotec.
First of all, order early enough during the day and you'll receive your purchase the next. I got my Silvia from them. Later I ordered some espresso ...
Hi there;
I used this page to calibrate my son's Virtuoso for a finer grind. After the adjustment it would grind so fine that he was able to plug his Saeco Aroma.
Be patient though when doing...
