Mokita machines? - 2007/06/12 23:15 I'm a newbie to CoffeeCrew and I'm searching for my first espresso machine. I recently came across the following:

http://www.creativecookware.com/mokita_machines.htm

Can anyone enlighten me on their lineage and quality? I've read that Mokita is (was?) a name connected with Le'Lit (manufactured under the Imat and Quaha brands). The Le'Lit PL 041 is on my shortlist, and if these Mokitas are similar in quality, I might give one a go, considering their price tag and the fact that I can order one from a Canadian shop.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re:Mokita machines? - 2007/06/13 08:45 LeLit would categorically deny that their steel boxes are made in the same basement as the Mokita boxes...

Truth is, this statement is a tough sell.

All the units you mention look the same, feel the same and have that "made in some factory basement in Milano by a bunch of neat old Italian craftsmen"

I had a LeLit PL041 and sold it to the owner of a local bakery. To the best of my knowledge it is still working fine, plugging away... brewing shot after shot (in his kitchen of course)

I would happily buy a Mokita-LeLit-Quahua long before I bought some crappy German or French piece of plastic crap by Delonghi or Krups.

Re:Mokita machines? - 2007/06/13 09:34 Thanks for the info, Colin. Now, if only Mokita could do something about the terrible colours. Why not just a plain SS look? Oh well...

Cheers!

Re:Mokita machines? - 2007/06/15 07:19 Well, not even the online seller can tell us who makes them. Joe at Creative Cookware sent me the following note by e-mail:

"I am not really sure, They are made in Italy, maybe by Saeco. I cannot really be sure, as my supplier will not tell me. All I know is that we have been selling them for years and are considered good machines."
