What about the Faema Faemart? - 2006/08/09 16:20 What about the Faema Faemart?
[Copied from an article comment to the forums by Dave]

DoubleShot asked: (on 2006-08-09 15:14:31)
My Briel finally gave up the ghost and I am interesting in an upgrade purchase to get my espresso fix. I can get a new Faema Faemat at a good price but am interested in any feedback on quality of the coffee, reliability, etc. I have not seen a review on any of my visits to your web site.

Thanks much.

Re:What about the Faema Faemart? - 2006/08/09 16:31 DoubleShot,

I don't really know anything about the Faemart. It appears to be a semi-automatic, pump-powered machine with a 300cc (0.3L) boiler, possibly brass, a 2L water reservoir, and a plastic turbofrother similar to what you would find on a Gaggia or Saeco. I don't know if it has a non-pressurized portafilter (whether or not it has a so-called and villified "crema enhancing" device). According to Faema Canada, it comes with a knockbox and a built-in water softener, but they provide very little information. [faema.net lists it with little info; faemacanada.com has more detailed specs for other machines, but does not list this model]

The price tags I have seen sound inflated, compared to other similar machines. However, I have never seen one nor heard any feedback on them. I haven't hunted terribly far to dig up specifications, but it sounds like it may be a capable, entry-level single boiler espresso machine, with a high and fluctuating price tag.
