PID for Miss Silvia - 2006/10/18 08:19 Can any of you experts chime in on what you think about the usefulness of getting the PID mod for the Silvia?

Re:PID for Miss Silvia - 2006/10/18 12:51 I PID'd my Silvia and I've found that I can get better results more consistently (but then, I never had the patience for temperature surfing).

If you decide to PID your Silvia, please don't rely solely on Murphy's instructions. You need to get the proper FT1 rated high temperature wire, make sure you use rubber grommets wherever wire passes through sheet metal, and put the recommended fuse in the hot line to the PID.

Although I have no experience with them, the PID kit from http://www.pidkits.com/ looks pretty well thought out.

Re:PID for Miss Silvia - 2006/12/08 10:57 I do not currently have any espresso machines.

I rebuilt a Saeco Classico (Aroma) some monthes ago and nicknamed it the "Red Rocket"...
Brass boiler, brass brew group, brass portafilter...

I gave it away to Dave Reimer, one of the coffeecrew writers in Vancouver.

Currently I brew my coffee with an Aeropress.

Re:PID for Miss Silvia - 2006/12/08 11:53 You don't currently have an espresso machine? Why not ?
Are you sick of espresso?

Re:PID for Miss Silvia - 2006/12/08 13:07 Not by a long shot - I am tired of how much space my espresso set-up was using in the Kitchen.

Let's just say that I am on vacation from espresso.

That and I leave it to the pro's (in Victoria) like Discovery Coffee and the like...
