Murky Coffee vs. the General Public - 2008/07/18 10:49 The story is sold as funny. Dude walks into Murky Coffee in Washington D.C. and orders an iced espresso knowing full well they do not do iced coffee. Words are exchange. A blog is published. BoingBoing.net picks it up.

Ok. I have been in the customers shoes. I walked into Cafe Fantastico one day and asked for a X-Y whole bean hybrid. Their rules are simple. They do not bag and sell beans blended and roasted on different days.

Truth be told - I was an asshole about it. So much so that the barista/staffer yelled at me.

But who was wrong?
Clearly I was.

But why?

Cafe Fantastico (and cafes like Disco, 2% and Habit) pride themselves on the quality of the product above and beyond everything else...
But so do fine French restaurants.

You would not walk into Brasserie L`ecole in Victoria with a jar of Ketchup for your Steak Frite would you?
No. Of course you wouldn`t. So why would you abuse a counter person, barista or coffee artist over store policy?

If you do not like the way a business delivers its product, go to Starbucks, Second Cup or Serious Coffee and have it your way.

Here at the coffeecrew website, we support cafes that believe in the integrity of their product.

Those are my thoughts - what are yours?
