It is in excellent condition, was only little used from new, but has been stored for some time.
Unfortunately, it just refuses to self-prime I have tried all the tricks / combinations of manual priming by pump / steam valve opening advised in the guides, but nothing is happening, just that sickening 'buzzing pump sound !
Does anyone have any 'advanced priming' techniques they could share - all advice very gratefully received.
BTW, gaggia UK are claiming a 20 "working day" turnaround on repairs - that's a WHOLE MONTH in real terms - far too long to go without coffee I think

Re:Stored Gaggia - won't prime :-( - 2006/06/18 20:48I had a problem in which the steam tube in a brand new Gaggia Topazio became blocked on two different occasions by some sort of crud from the boiler. Whether it was the result of manufacturing, factory testing, or dealer testing, I don't know.
The dealer accused me of not thoroughly cleaning the steam line after steaming milk, which was nonsense because it was the boiler end of the line that was blocked not the panarello end.
The solution in my case was to open the machine, undo the nut securing the steam line to the boiler, remove the steam line from the machine and backflush it thoroughly.

I had a Gaggia Espresso like this - did the same thing. Pulled off the line from the boiler. Advice: MAKE SURE THE UNIT IS OFF. It was under pressure and I got a nice blast of steam and water in the face!
What was the culprit? The end-user was steaming milk and had not bled it off after each use. Milk rotted and blocked the steam wand.Colin is the Senior editor and creator of the CoffeeCrew.Com Website

Re:Stored Gaggia - won't prime :-( - 2006/07/11 17:36I took a large mouthful of water and with the resevoir hose in my mouth I turned on the switch (just for 2 seconds) and forced the water up the tube when the pump went on. I did this twice, put things back together and made myself an espresso.

Hi,
I've had my Mokita for 5 years now, and I find the coffee is getting kind of bitter - sour, and there is almost no more crema. At first, I thought it was the coffee itself, but now I doubt it....
Pouring the espresso into the hot water, saves the crema.... I have has this request a few times, as for taste difference, I do not know if it does....
