Best Yukon Cafe - Midnight Sun - 2007/05/22 09:08
Zola’s Café Doré 305 Main Street, Whitehorse, YT
If you ever find yourself in Whitehorse for a few days, as I did, be sure to pay a visit to Zola’s Café Doré. It is easy to miss - I did the first time, but worth the effort to find. The interior is a large irregular space with two walls painted bright red to catch your eye. The floor is gray stone tile and the place is furnished with nice solid wood tables and high backed chairs –also bright red.
Be sure to look for the carved wood elephant chairs and table.
Zola’s offers a variety of coffees from its own roasting room, the Midnight Sun Coffee Roaster. (Only a few blocks form Zola’s, you can visit it at 4168-C 4th Ave.). Most of their coffee blends are also available at the Café.
Each day Zola’s serves two of their own roasted coffees plus a decaf selection.
My choice being dark roast, I tried their Dark French Roast, Midnight Special Roast (both organic), and Sam McGee’s (my favorite). There is usually a line-up at this popular spot. Zola’s also offers a selection of teas, muffins, etc. and there are three internet terminals on the premises. There is a lot more information to be found at their website www.midnight-sun-coffee.com.
