Saeco problem - 2007/08/05 09:07
Hello to everyone.
I'm a newbie here and I thought I was at the right place for my question.
I just bought a Saeco Aroma espresso machine and I have been enjoying it for the last few days. I'm still learning all the ins and outs of espresso making. Today, I tried to make a single shot using the single shot filter.
That's when the problems started.
The water was coming out from all around the portafilter. It seemed to me that the seal was not doing it's job. I then tried to tighten the group a little more but it didn't anything. Then I retried the double shot filter and everything was fine.
Any idea what could be the problem and are there any possible solution?
Thanks for your help.

When I bought my Saeco, the retailer told me only use double basket with the pressurized handle. Even if you want to make a single shot, use the double basket.
I guess the single basket doesn't work with the pressurized handle.
Hope this helps.

It should work.
My advice is: Steer clear of the single basket under all circumstances until you become a complete guru.
The single is cruel.
Trust me.

OK, thanks tmplo for your clarification.
And also thanks colin for your advice, but it doesn't answer the question: why is it not working with the single basket?
Oh, by the way, I was making a «dry run» with no coffee, only water for the first time.
Anyway, I'll use the double basket if only because I trust you colin.
Thanks guys.

Yikes! You are scaring me now.
Even with us veterans, the single can be intimidating and cruel.
