Art - 2006/03/24 16:46Latté art is deceptively simple, and yet learning to pull it off successfully is the result of much practice and patience. It would be immensely helpful to have a mentor show you the ropes when getting started in this area, but for most of us home baristi this just isn't available to us.
While my art is still by no means perfect, I have gleaned a trick or three in my journey to figure out the rosetta.
Have a question? I will do my best to answer it. Want to discuss art? By all means!

Re:Art - 2006/03/25 02:54That's actually one of the first videos i have seen for animal art (staring at rosetta) "That's nice ... umm ... but I wanted a rabbit?"
I tried chiding Colin into practicing some art when I was out to Victoria -- alas, it never happened, though for reasons beyond his control. [Deep, embedded phsychological fear of milk? No ..]

Re:Art - 2006/03/25 05:58I hope that I didn't come across as knocking etching?
Perfectly valid art form with its own skills and unique creations. Some etchings are truly striking, and the combination of espresso and one's imagination can only help get us through the day.
I agree, a line of hippity-hop lattes would be a cute celebration of Easter (so long as they were immediately consumed and did not sit).

Latté artists WANTED - 2006/07/16 16:09Yet another place on the web devoted to latté art? Well, why not?
I'm not exactly keeping the photo gallery humming. If you have some art that you would like to share, by all means get in touch with us, so we can open up the art gallery for you to share your photos.
Or, if you'd just like the join in ragging Dave to get a better camera, you can do that here, too! :-P
Art's no fun when you can't share it with anyone. Well, not as much fun, anyway. Good coffee needs company.

Heck yes! It is the cause of 99% of taste problems with espresso coffee (all other mechanical things being normal and the coffee being fresh...)

Hi,
I've had my Mokita for 5 years now, and I find the coffee is getting kind of bitter - sour, and there is almost no more crema. At first, I thought it was the coffee itself, but now I doubt it....
Pouring the espresso into the hot water, saves the crema.... I have has this request a few times, as for taste difference, I do not know if it does....
As opposed to the other way around? Do you mean the difference between pouring the water over the espresso as opposed to pouring the espresso over the hot water?
If so the only real difference, in...
