not thrilled by Clover - 2006/10/02 14:04just had a Clover coffee at Discovery Coffee and I didn't like it near as much as the Americano I had the other day. maybe it was just that variety of bean I didn't like? dunno, will probably never bother to try another - the Americano was so awesome I don't care what I'll be missing from the Clover press.
Call me cretan...
I love that place though, very non-pretentious - you get the pointy bearded hipsters and blue collar guys lining up for good good coffee - the music kicks, all round nice place.

Actually - you are being narrow.
That is like saying: "I had an espresso once and I will never do it again..."
When you are in Vancouver, let Alistair or the crew at Elysian Room make you a Clover. It will knock your baby shoes off. Or go to Artigiano and have them make you a cup of excellence French press. It will rock your World.
Open your mind and taste-buds.

Re:not thrilled by Clover - 2006/10/02 16:09OK, OK, I'll try the Clover at Discovery at least one more time but that's it cause I'm thrilled with their americano and that's good enough for me.
I don't like Vancouver and tend to avoid it, but I will make a pilgrimage to the holy sites you mention on my next visit - just to see how good it can get.
I guess I am narrow but I'm happy (mostly) so what the hell...

Re:not thrilled by Clover - 2006/10/03 15:30Worse things, not Folgers, much worse, there are ... afraid, yes, terrified, you will be!
I think in this case the 'dark side' is more the onset of upgradeitis. Not much lure to stale, canned, or otherwise expensive dreck. See the dark side, you might ... appreciate truly, you will .. but ... very few, there are, that can resist ... the summons of the dark side ... ... very fewDave is an Ottawa resident and Coffee Expert

Could bad taste come for poor maintenance?
Heck yes! It is the cause of 99% of taste problems with espresso coffee (all other mechanical things being normal and the coffee being fresh...)

Hi,
I've had my Mokita for 5 years now, and I find the coffee is getting kind of bitter - sour, and there is almost no more crema. At first, I thought it was the coffee itself, but now I doubt it....
Pouring the espresso into the hot water, saves the crema.... I have has this request a few times, as for taste difference, I do not know if it does....
As opposed to the other way around? Do you mean the difference between pouring the water over the espresso as opposed to pouring the espresso over the hot water?
If so the only real difference, in...
