prepared to meet my maker! - 2006/12/09 07:51
I'm looking to purchase a new brewing machine(before researching this excellant site, i used to call it a coffee maker!). I'm considering the Technivorm moccamaster CD ($250CAD) or the Capresso CoffeeTeam ($350CAD)with built in grinder. Any comments or recommendations from anyone on these 2 products?

I have traditionally called Capresso...
Crapresso...
Maybe things have changed.
There are few brewers that meet or beat the SCAA's stringent standards - the Technivorm is one and the NewCo OCS-8 is the other.
I have no knowledge of anything by Capresso making the grade.
I could be misinformed.

Quote from Capresso site:
"2 Hour Safety Shut-Off will keep the coffee hot for two hours after brewing. Then the heating element will shut off by itself conserving energy and giving you peace of mind. The clock and all programmed settings stay on."
A heating element!
Coffee is only good for 20 minutes after it has been brewed.
In 2 hours, it should be drunk or down the drain.
Crap-presso!

Colin, thank you for the opinion on the capresso, I'll take your advice on the capresso - the real appeal of the CoffeeTeam machine was that it came with a grinder, and since I need both, I'd be killing 2 birds with 1 stone. However, if I can get the Techni at $100 less, I'll use the difference towards a standalone grinder. I'm considering the Solis Maestro, unless you have opinions on this too?

Transcend Coffee in Edmonton seem to have exclusive distribution rights in Canada.
