Re:Machine advice please. - 2008/11/30 17:12 Bringing this up again as I never did buy a machine.

I've been working at our New Zealand office for the past few months where they have an E16 Rocket (http://www.rocketcoffee.co.nz/html/domestic.htm) and a Mazzer Mini in the kitchen which has confirmed for me that I want a good machine when I go back home, and it must be semi-auto. Our other office here has a fully auto and while the coffee is decent, it just doesn't compare.

So my question now is... Since I'm now used to the E61 machine that has a rather constant temperature, will I be happy with a Silvia? I don't want to fuss too much and am willing to pay extra for less fuss. The home-barista.com review of the Silvia suggests there are higher priced machines with the same quality with less fuss. What would those machines be?

Hot water would be nice as well as I like long blacks, and will probably have to do chai lattes for my wife. I'll probably only do 3 coffees a day as well. Sizewise I think the Silvia is probably about as large as I'd like to get.

Thanks for any tips.

p.s.

Bugdet is in the <$2k range.
