My name is Ben, I live in Victoria BC and I am trying to pull myself out of drinking crappy coffee!
I'm in college now after spending some time just living life (I'm 28) and leaning about myself and I have succumbed to drinking hastily made drip coffee. It was a mistake, I know.
Once I realized this, I took a tip from my personal quest to make better tea and here I am.
I hope to learn to slow down and truly make coffee, not just caffeinated hot stuff!

That is an interesting welcome! heh I'll take you up on that, assuming I can find out where to get a decent grinder that does drip and espresso, which is in my price range. I am not afraid to go hand-ground btw, just in case you know of any hanging about.
Could you check out my grinder post and make a recommendation and let me know where I could make a purchase?
The Maestro or Maestro plus have been recommended. I have looked into these and am sure they will do the job for drip and press, but unsure of their suitability for espresso.

I've used a Maestro Plus for my espresso grinding needs for the last few years. No complaints beyond the mess, and from my experience making espresso if just a messy business.
I recently made a moderate upgrade to a Rancilio Rocky doserless --more for looks (yes I'm shallow) and the finer controls for grind settings.
In my dreams I would like a Pasquni Moka, Mazzer Mini, or a Macap MC4 (in that order.)
Maybe once the dust settles from our impending move to Victoria I'll lash out and buy one...dream on my wife says

Colin, I am getting a grinder from my father. It isn't a great one, but he used it for espresso and he says it works well. I don't know the brand yet.
Anyways, I'd like to take you up on the offer of an Aeropress. Would we meet somewhere? For a cup maybe? My treat since you are being so generous.
