La Cimbali Microcimbali Liberty - Manual needed - 2006/03/19 20:32
I have just obtained a second hand "La Cimbali Microcimbali Liberty" and there is no documentation with it.
I have been looking and other than the lovely parts manual in the download section here at CoffeeCrew, I have not been able to find much in the way of auser manual or service documentation.
My unit is expected to arrive within the week and I need to know how to use it.
Can any one please assist.

Using this unit is a piece of cake.
You fill it with water (not to the brim though)
There is a power switch. Switch it on. Let it heat up. Open steam valve(knob) to steam milk. Close steam valve. Load portafilter with coffee tamp coffee Lift ARM to load brew head with water. Count to 5 or 10... Pull down arm brewing coffee pour foamed milk onto espresso enjoy your cappuccino. That's it. Really. That's it!

That, and practice practice practice to get your lever technique down. Enjoy your machine when it comes, and be sure to use fresh coffee!
Don't despair if your first shots aren't perfect, just keep at it.

Thanks guys / gals
As soon as it arrives I will attempt to follow your directions as every other machine including the little Auto's appear to be very picky re the way you use them.
If it as simple as you say and I get a half decent cup of coffee (double shot espresso) then I may feel a little happer.
Will keep you in the loop and try to take a pic or two.
Still interested in a users manual or service documentation.

Glad some one thinks it a piece of Cake
Switch it on. Let it heat up. Open steam valve(knob) to steam milk. Close steam valve. Load portafilter with coffee tamp coffee ( If packed too high it fouls, 10 ml below Top of Basket) LOWER ARM to load brew head with water. Count to 5 or 10... Lift UP arm and should be brewing coffee ( Maybe ? Spring return goes straight UP with little resistance - 15 - 20 mL of Coffee) No Crema ?
Have tried course and fine grinds as well as packing / tamping.
Hot Water through the head and into a cup = 89C so have to assume the temp is about right, but could go a little higher ?
HELP

Lemm get this straight --- You lower the arm to load the brew head and lift to brew!?
Ack!
I really must read the instruction manual you sent me!
The water in the brew head must be about 100C.
89C is too cool. Not hot enough.
Very possible that you have a thermostat that needs replacing.

It's not just the temp of that coffee that is creating no crema. Your grind and the type of coffee are essential. The best tasting coffee I found is from a company in CT called Cafe Italia Enterprises. The coffee is called Passalacqua. Best tasting coffee and perfect crema. They will even grind it to your machine if you don't have a good grinder. These guys are the experts.

Re:La Cimbali Microcimbali Liberty - Manual needed - 2007/03/13 08:49
Hi there,
i am new to CoffeCrew - since i just got a used La Cimbali Liberty i thought it was appropriate to register right away ;o
I have to start with a question since the former owner didn't have the manual for this machine.
I followed the instructions above - buet beside the fact i certainly need some more practise i discovered that pressure doesn't rise above 0,4 bar.
Sounds little to me... Any idea?
Cheers from Germany
Guido
