ECM Botticelli II/T and Baratza Virtuoso - 2006/05/15 14:54 Hello,

Recently purchased an ECM Botticelli II/T and Baratza Virtuoso from EspressoTec. Great machines and great service from EspressoTec. Previous machine was a Saeco Rio Vapore.

Attempted my first few double shots and obviously I'm missing something. Here are the results:

- 2.5oz extracted in about 14-15s
- little to no crema and weak tasting espresso

Relevant Points
- Machine warmed up for 15-20 minutes
- empty shots run through portafilter into cups
- Mauro beans ground on setting 3 (Espresso is 1-10 with 1 being finest)
- two scoops of coffee using ubiquitous black measuring spoon included in box
- tamped with moderate to hard force (nothing handy to measure actual pressure/weight)
- portafilter seems to be leaking where basket joins handle and where it joins spout. EspressoTec thinkings that its actually leaking around brewhead/portafilter and that I need to crank on handle harder. Currently I stop when handle is 90 degrees to the machine face...

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Phil
