Geir and Pat Oglend, of MyCoffeeSite.Com, provided me with a sample ECM Giotto espresso-cappuccino machine for several weeks. The evaluation was wonderful and informative. It was, perhaps, my first time with a solid and professional machine on the kitchen counter with capabilities beyond anything I have had up to this point.

The Giotto, as an 'over-$1000' machine has several things up on your standard Gaggia Classic or Rancilio Silvia machine. To start with, you can brew espresso and steam milk at the same time. A heat-exchanger permits this. You can also draw off hot water for Americano's or Tea at the same time.

Once the Giotto is heated up (about 1/2 hour or so) and seasoned with a shot or two of espresso, the unit is ready to crank out shot after shot and as much milk as I could throw at it was steamed effortlessly and quickly. This is the perfect unit for a large party. Do not get me wrong on my trusty Gaggia Classic. The Classic is the perfect Saturday morning machine for me and my breakfast needs. The Giotto is best suited to a small office or home party's.

You can buy an ECM Giotto from WholeLatteLove.com, espressotec.com(in Canada) as well as Geir and Pat's MyCoffeeSite.com.
