My Son and I went to Montreal for what has become our annual tradition, a Leafs/Canadians hockey game.

Montreal is a city I have come to love for many reasons, coffee being a big one.
I have spent many a weekend walking around in awe of the quantity
of great coffee.

This trip there would be no walking around, as it was a record setting cold. The -35 degree temperatures were playing havoc with my digital camera and my mobile phone!

But being the coffee enthusiast I am, I picked my three favorite cafe-markets, and away we went.

The first place I always head to is the La Vieille Europe, at 3855 St.Laurent.
I have been there a half dozen times.

The European has a probat roaster in the back of the store and this was the first time I could smell the coffee roasting the moment I walked in.
This is where I go to discover new coffees, as they have the largest selection of coffee I have ever seen.

The European isn't really a cafÈ per se, but it's a mini market, with a very old world feeling. It is very cool.

From here my son and I got a cab and went to old Montreal to have a latte and a sweet treat at Java U, 191 St.Paul O.

I often come here for lunch and a latte. Before long it was time to head back for the game. It was a great game and the leafs won, 4-1.

On Sunday we packed up, left our bags at the hotel and went down to the Atwater Marche

I love the Atwater market, as it is a little bit of home. I went straight to the Aux Quatre Vents, where they have a Petroccini roaster right up front.

I have been here 6 to 8 times but I have yet to see them roasting. I really enjoy the latte and the atmosphere.
For me this is a must stop. We did a bit of shopping for food before the train ride home, and my son got a chance to speak some French.
It was a great weekend, and I am already planning my weekend back.
