Hi there,
I have an inherited Saeco (nuova) superVapore. While almost 20 years old, since I put in a new pump it's been doing a great job. Good americanos, nice crema and tons of steam! However -- I recently pulled out the old, badly worn group gasket (the previous owner didn't seem to know it had to be replaced!) and I can't figure out how to get the new one in. Once I remove the shower screen, there doesn't seem to be any allen screws or any other fasteners that will let me remove the shower holding plate. And if I try to insert the new gasket without removing the plate, it has to slide in sideways and it's impossible to get it into the proper flat position against the head. Am I missing something here?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to give up on a well-functioning machine over a $3 piece of rubber.
thanks!

I think I know how to do this -- but I cannot explain it tonight.

Lost my mom-in-law this week and I am bagged.

Will help you out tomorrow.

Thanks for your patience.

Thank-you. Appreciate that.

Gasket. Saeco Super Vapore.

If memory serves me, this is often a case of taking a pretty sharp screwdriver and gouging out the old one...

And using the portafilter to twist the new one in -- after the old gasket remnants are cleaned out as possible.

Will re-read your post to see if I am on the right track.

Think of it like replacing the rubber on a bicycle rim - it appears impossible... but it is rubber you are dealing with.

You can get it partly in position and then you wedge in the portafilter and twist to seat it properly --
try and visualize.
If I am off the mark on this -- because I have not done many gasket replacements - jump in someone.
